Research paper on holiday

Students have been working hard on their research for their holiday.  There will be 14 different holidays for us to learn about this year and we are very excited to learn about them.  Please ask your student about their holiday and what they have learned so far.  Presentations will be on Wed and Thurs where each student/group will teach the class about their holiday and what they have learned.  I have attached the two forms that students are using to complete their research and the rubric to help them to write their best paper.  Have a great weekend!!

Two letters were sent home last week about Halloween.  One was from the office and outlined all of the Halloween activities at school from costumes, the parade to parties.  The second letter is my parent request for volunteers to help us at the Halloween party.  Please let me know asap if you are interested in helping us to have a great Halloween party!!  Thank you very much!!

Red Ribbon Week

Students should have brought home a letter to explain Red Ribbon Week and the upcoming activities.

Today they were to wear red to "get Red-y" to stay drug free.

Tues. is picture day so we will "dress to impress".

Wed. we "give the boot to drugs" and wear boots (cowboy/girl hats are okay too)

Thurs. we "vote for your future to be drug free" and wear red, white and blue

Fri. we "lei off drugs" where we wll wear clothes in a Hawaiian theme.

The next 2 weeks

The next 2 weeks have changes to our normal schedule.  On Friday, 10/07 students have an 11:30 dismissal day.  On Monday, there is no school in observance of Columbus Day.  I just wanted to be sure everyone was aware in case you need to make arrangements for your students.  I hope you enjoy your long weekend!

Grandparents invitation

In honor of Grandparents' Day, our class is inviting all grandparents to come read with us.  We will have STAR reading from 8:20-8:53 and would love it if any grandparents could come share their time with our class.  Please plan to come from 8:15-9:30 as we will have a discussion of our favorite books when STAR reading is over.  There is no need to reply, but we hope to see you on Friday 9/09.

9/11 interview

Please read and sign the bottom portion of the expectation letter that went home 8/23/16.  I am happy to go over any part of the letter that may need further explaining.  Thank you!!

Please read the letter inviting you to join ClassDojo.  It is a great tool that we will use in the classroom and the students enjoy seeing how they do each day.  Students will be active in assigning their + and - points throughout the day as well.  Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
